24 January 2006 - Commonwealth
Games Swimmers will be training
in recycled water courtesy
of the Swimming Pool and Spa
Association of Victoria (SPASA).
SPASA
will hold the Swimming Pool
and Spa Exhibition from Friday
27 January to Sunday 29 January
2006 at the Melbourne Exhibition
Centre and will transport
the water used in the Exhibition
to the Melbourne Sports and
Aquatics Centre at Albert
Park.
Ms
Elizabeth van Beek, General
Manager of SPASA and Exhibition
organiser said: "The 46,000
litres, the amount used to
fill an average backyard swimming
pool, would be trucked via
tanker to the Melbourne Sports
and Aquatics Centre at Albert
Park to reflect SPASA's support
for water conservation.
"This
is certainly water for gold
medal winners as the cost
of the trucking is around
$800.00."
This
is the 5th SPASA expo where
water has been recycled.
Ms
van Beek said, "The water
will be transferred between
the Melbourne Exhibition Centre
and the Melbourne Sports and
Aquatics Centre at 5.00am
in the morning outside training
times."
