A capacity audience of 350 from all sectors of the pool and spa industry attended the glittering industry "night of nights” on Saturday the 28th August at Zinc - Federation Square, Melbourne.

"The level of excellence demonstrated by the entries in the 2010 SPASA Awards of Excellence is quite simply stunning. SPASA members are truly the leading exponents within the industry. Consumers should not contemplate using a non aligned practitioner." SPASA CEO, Brendan Watkins said.

"Year after year we keep seeing an astounding quality of pools, spas and products entering the market. Victoria certainly leads all States with this level of expertise. Let’s all continue to enjoy the enormous community value provided by swimming pools". he said.

The coveted Pool of the Year Award was won by Out From the Blue. Out From the Blue was established in1995 and has won over 20 SPASA Awards of Excellence in the last 6 years. They have already won the major pool construction award in 2006 & 2009.

The SPASA Water Neutral Pool program Award made its debut, with Rainwise receiving recognition for the certification of 43 "water wise" swimming pools.

"Water conservation is a prime concern for our association – we promote water saving constantly to consumers, and warmly congratulate Rainwise for their conversion of 43 pools to water neutral status" said Brendan Watkins.

CEO of Yarra Valley Water, Tony Kelly presented the Water Neutral Pool program Award, and was very supportive of the efforts made by the pool and spa industry to promote the responsible use of water.

The 2010 Product Innovation Award went to Spa Industries for the Aqua Temp - an eco-friendly spa water heating system. The AquaTemp also won the main Sustainability Award.

Watkins said, "The Aqua Temp incorporates a highly efficient heat pump inside the shell of a spa – it can recover the heat generated by the motors as well as the hot air under the spa cover, converting the energy into warm spa water. It's estimated the Aqua Temp reduces running cost by up to 50%, and dramatically reduces the users carbon footprint. This is exactly the R&D our industry applauds".

The Gala event is supported by leading industry players, including main sponsors; Remco Australia, The savewater!® Alliance, POOLSIDE magazine & OUTdoor Design & Living magazine.
