WorkSafePublic comment is now open on the proposed Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and Equipment (Public Safety) Regulations in Victoria.

Victoria’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 (OHS Regulations) and Equipment (Public Safety) Regulations 2007 (EPS Regulations) will expire in June 2017. WorkSafe Victoria (WorkSafe) is required to review and remake these regulations by this date.

As part of the review, WorkSafe has looked at how the Regulations are currently working, and identified opportunities for improvement to streamline and modernise their content, and better reflect current Victorian work practices.

1470196174As part of the review, Deloitte Access Economics has prepared a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) which estimates the current impact of the OHS Regulations and EPS Regulations, and the extent of any associated health and safety benefits or time and cost savings for Victorian businesses resulting from the proposed regulatory changes.

Employers, employees, other interested parties and members of the public are now invited to make submissions responding to the proposed OHS and EPS Regulations, and RIS.

Public comment commenced on Monday 18 July 2016 for two months, until close of business on Friday 9 September 2016.
